Triple-R-Superbike Team: Vaughn Paterson

Vaughn

Vaughn Paterson met Red through their mutual interest in bodybuilding nine years ago.
He'd always been interested in motorsport but says he's never had the money or the time. He'd owned motorbikes before however he only went out every 6 months or so, if that.

When Vaughn set up Gymeez Sports in Christchurch, selling health and fitness products, Red became one of his customers.
"Red and I looked at go-carts, RX7's and rallying then Red bought a bike and we used it at the track. I went overseas and by the time I got back, Red was into it."

Vaughn completed some road racing courses with Brian Bernard through Suzuki.
"I was totally hooked," says Vaughn. That was 4 years ago and he now admits "I don't stop thinking about it".

Vaughn has had some impressive local finishes including a second in the King of Canterbury Formula One (Super Bikes) and a third at King of Levels.
He's known for being a very smooth rider and a consistent one.

Vaughn has previous international competition experience in bodybuilding. Incredibly he started training when he was 8 yrs old and up until 1993, won a range of regional and national titles, including the juniors and couple sections in New Zealand's national bodybuilding championships. His top achievement was 7th in the Junior Universe.

Vaughn still trains 3-4 times / week and is now a top-scoring judge.
Originally from Carterton in the Wairarapa, Vaughn (35) has lived in Canterbury since the age of 18.
